Celebrating the Titanic Anniversary

On April 15, 2012, the world will commemorate one of the greatest maritime tragedies. This will be the day of the much-awaited Titanic anniversary. The Titanic, as everyone knows, is a huge luxury liner that was supposed to sail from Southampton, England to New York City, United States of America. It began sinking into the depths of the ocean after hitting an iceberg.

Unfortunately, there are no longer any living survivors to celebrate the anniversary two years from now. The last survivor, Mellvina Dean, died in May last year. She was just a few weeks old at the time of the tragedy. Nonetheless, everybody is still expected to take part in the centennial Titanic anniversary. All cities connected to the RMS Titanic such as Belfast, Liverpool, Stoke, Southampton, and Litchfield will cooperate.

Aside from presentations of stories and artifacts, the Titanic anniversary is also going to be celebrated with a cruise. The Balmoral will represent the Titanic. Just like in 1912, the ship will sail from Southampton and trace the exact path that the Titanic took.

Once they reach the spot were the tragedy happened, they will offer prayers to the people who have died there. Then, the ship will continue its journey. It will make a stop at Helix, Nova Scotia so that passengers can have the chance to visit Fairview Lawn Cemetery. Here, more than one hundred passengers were buried. Finally, the Balmoral will make its way to its final destination, New York City.

While on the cruise, the Titanic stories from passengers will have meals similar to what the actual Titanic passengers had. They will also listen to the same music and enjoy the same activities. Of course, there will also be presentations and lectures, courtesy of renowned historians.

In addition, the passengers will mostly be composed of the upper class to really mimic the original cruise. The prices range from £3,350 to £7,995 per person. Most of the extravagant suits, however, have already been sold out. Nevertheless, everyone is really excited and people from all over the world are working together to make the centennial Titanic anniversary a wonderful experience.
