Divide Your Bugdet Between Online and Offline Marketing

If you are like most internet marketers, you probably spend your entire marketing budget on online marketing methods. Consider how much money you’ve spent on having articles written, backlinks or any kind of paid online advertising. With all of your internet-based marketing efforts, have you perhaps ignored all of the ways you could be marketing offline? As hard to believe as this is for some people, not everyone is online! If you limit your marketing to online methods you are going to miss out on a very viable audience! Perhaps you can see that this is something worth trying, so how do you get started? Here are the basic offline marketing methods every internet marketer should try.

Your local newspaper (and just about all newspapers), has a section for classified advertisements. Online classified sites such as Craigslist have become a very popular form of advertising. You could just as easily advertise in a local newspaper’s classified section. A well placed three line classified ad can bring in more potential buyers than twelve ads in online classified sites. It’s true that you can’t advertise in a newspaper for free like you can on Craigslist, but if it turns out to be a lot more effective, wouldn’t you be willing to pay the small fee? By doing this you’ll be reaching a whole population of people who read papers but don’t have computers; they can, of course, go online at the library or internet cafe if they want to visit your website or buy from you!

If you can afford it, television ads are wonderful ways to advertise your business to an offline audience. We all have watched a commercial that enticed us to visit a website, call an 800 number, or go to restaurant and order what you seen on TV. This can be expensive so you need to test your sales strategy first. This is definitely advertising that you will want to save up for – unless of course the station is willing to take your services in trade for the cost of the ads that you want to run. Also, you can get a cheaper rate on your pricing if you choose to run your ad at any time other than prime-time. Always keep these options about TV advertising in your mind.

A pen is also good for placing ads. To find companies that will print your URL on your pens just do a search online or in your local phone book. Once you start distributing them you will quickly find out how easy they are to get rid of. A “sneaky” method of getting rid of them is to “accidentally” leave it behind at the check-out counter when signing a check. There are so many different places to leave these and people to pass them out to without even coming off as trying to market or sell something. Also, you can walk around passing them out; this works very well at places like libraries. Everybody likes getting free pens! Once you start thinking along these lines, you realize how many ways you can market offline. In fact, there might even be more ways to advertise yourself offline than there are online! You may just have to shift gears a little.

The possible ways to market your business are almost limitless if you allow your creativity to flow freely and you keep trying things until something works! Wherever you go, think in terms of who could by helped by your business. Don’t be afraid to spend some of your marketing budget on offline marketing materials that you can hand out or give away. If you split your marketing between online and offline methods, you can have the best of both worlds and attract more business overall.
