If You Need to Buy An Office Chair But Don’t Know What Kind, Get an Executive Chair
Just because executive chairs are normally reserved for the higher ups doesn’t mean that you can’t have one, too. Everyone has the right to be comfortable at the office. No one can be expected to do their best work while sitting in an uncomfortable chair. A lot of companies will buy the cheaper office furniture for the lower people on the office totem pole, while the higher ups will get the good office chairs. I really don’t think this is fair. Most of the time a company’s success depends entirely on the people at the bottom of the ladder. If you have a job and are being forced to sit in cheap, vinyl plastic office chairs all day long, you should take it upon yourself to have a chat with the boss. Make sure they know that you are miserable and uncomfortable all day long, and that you feel you could be more productive for the company if you were permitted to order yourself executive chairs. The worst thing that can happen in this scenario is that your boss will say no. But it doesn’t hurt to try. You owe it to yourself to try to get better office furniture if you’re uncomfortable. Hopefully, your boss will allow you to look at the executive chairs and order one for yourself. Companies all have a budget for office furniture, and if any office chairs go over budget, you may be asked to make up the difference out of your own pocket.
