Be Here Now! ~ Ancient Proverb

Be present to the moment!  There couldn’t be a more appropriate warning or call to focus for entrepreneurs today.

It has often been said that we live in a world accelerating in fast-forward, with more change, more information and more options than ever before.

This creates numerous challenges for entrepreneursand the entrepreneurially minded.

One of the biggest challenges is to over-come the myth of multitasking.

Learning how to be present to the moment is mission critical for success.Multi-tasking has almost become a badge of honor for entrepreneurs.

Yet, studies continue to show how ineffective we are when we aremulti-tasking. Many countries have banned texting while driving becausethis multitasking activity can be as deadly as driving while intoxicated.

The same is also true for most of the business activities we engage inwhen multitasking.

Granted, there are times and there are activities which are fine for multitasking – rifling through email while waiting for a meeting to start, listening to trainingmaterial while exercising, etc.T

he important thing is that you multitask by choice not by default.

One of the most negative impact areas of multitasking is in our relationships.

When we multitask while carrying on a conversation it is impossible to be fully present to the moment or to the person.People know when your focus is being divided between what they are expressing and what you are doing.

In fact nothing can make a person feel more appreciated or valued than when you give them your full, undivided attention. Try it.Beware of the myth of multitasking. If you are going to multitask do it by choice.

Evaluate your effectiveness and see if multitasking is helping or hurting your performance and your relationships.

As you become present to the moment you will experience the power and focus that come from living the “Be Here Now” proverb.
