Sport fields have been around for many years. In the old days grass was the only playing surface but today turf is used quite often as it makes for a faster surface to bring more excitement to whatever sport is being played. Taking care of and maintaining turf takes skill, effort, and the right equipment. Most turf surfaces are cut extremely short and require special mowers to maintain it. To save money, many sports fields will purchase used turf equipment instead of buying new. New can be overly expensive and really not give you that much more reliability over a good used turf mower. There are only so many moving parts to a turf mower so anyone that is mechanically inclined can easily work on and service their own equipment. This is why buying pre owned turf equipment is not that big of deal especially when you buy from a trusted dealer that can service and refurbish the turf equipment to be as reliable as new expensive pieces. A used piece of turf equipment is not going to cut the turf any different than a new mower. Either a turf mower works or it doesn’t, there is not quality difference in the turf’s condition between using new or pre owned turf equipment. Knowing how and where to save a sports team or league money is a good quality. Cutting back by buying pre owned turf equipment is not going to lessen the quality of the field or the game being played by any means.
