Using Articles to Get Traffic

The first thing your reader will see is your article title. Therefore it must be something that will catch their attention, and want them to look further. Therefore it goes without saying that your keywords must be found within the title. Some advise they go at the beginning, others suggest they go at the end. The important thing is to get your article opened by publishers and readers. If you take account only of what the search engines want you could fail to impress those to whom your article is really targeted, and you will be wasting your efforts. What, then, are the basic steps to take in order to make sure your articles reach your target audience, and are followed through by your readers right up to and including your website? You’ve got past the first step, and now your article has been opened. Have you ever read a really absorbing book that is hard to put down? You just want to read on and on because you can’t wait until the end to see how it all ends? Ideally that’s how you want your readers to view your article. That’s where the opening paragraph plays such an important role. It has to capture the readers’ interest so they will want to stay with it right through to the end. Asking questions like ‘how to’ or ‘why’ or ‘what’ will hopefully keep your reader with the article to find the solution or answer to his questions. So, you have set out the theme of your article within both the title, and the opening paragraph. Obviously you have to keep with the theme, and not go off topic, otherwise you have failed to fulfill what was expected of you, and the reader will leave, feeling disappointed, and in worst case scenarios - cheated. If you’ve done your job properly, you will not only have answered their questions, you’ll leave them wanting more. And this is where the Author’s Resource Box (or Author Bio) comes in.Probably most writers have one goal in writing articles, that of leading readers to another site and getting cheap traffic, in the hope that a service, or product, will be purchased by them. This is the place - the only place - where a good writer will promote himself, and more importantly, his website. It is not the place, however, where you write a full-length feature on your services/products, and list lots of links. If you do that’s probably where most readers will just switch off and leave your page. The selling is done through your website, and if you have followed the basics from the title to Author’s Resource Box then hopefully that’s where your readers will end up.
